Surface Preparation - Galvanised Iron

The Galvanised Iron surface you are working with may have to be treated differently depending on its current state.

New / unpainted

For optimal results on a Galvanised Iron surface in a New / unpainted state, please follow the instructions below for preparation and application. Links to the products utilised in this guide are listed below.

Preparation
  1. Dilute 500 gms copper sulphate with 20 litres water
  2. Apply to new galvanised iron, leave 2-3 hours
  3. Rinse with clean water
Application
  1. Apply 1 coat Ultra-MetalPrimer
  2. Apply 2 coats of Ultralast product of choice
Products that can be used
Unpainted / Rusted

For optimal results on a Galvanised Iron surface in a Unpainted / Rusted state, please follow the instructions below for preparation and application. Links to the products utilised in this guide are listed below.

Preparation
  1. Remove all loose and flaking rust
  2. Do not use any rust remover products
Application
  1. Apply 1 coat Ultra-MetalPrimer
  2. Apply 2 coats of Ultralast product of choice
Products that can be used
Previously pained with Aluminium or bitumum Aluminium paintFor optimal results on a Galvanised Iron surface in a Previously pained with Aluminium or bitumum Aluminium paint state, please follow the instructions below for preparation and application. Preparation
  1. Wash surface with general purpose cleaner or Ultra-Clean
  2. Rinse with clean water
  3. Abrade surface with Scotchbrite pads and Ultra-BondFirst
Application
  1. Apply 1 coat Ultra-MetalPrimer
  2. Apply 2 coats of Ultralast product of choice
